Hello, I am Sophia
I work as a project manager, a parent, and an expat based in Ottawa, Canada.
A few years ago, I relocated here with my family. What started as a temporary contract gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to Canada wasn't in the long-term plan. Like many expatriate relocations, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far greater.
The first months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, routines, and expectations. Everyday chores seemed more complex than they needed to be.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and plenty of hands-on learning. Gradually, routines took shape. We found places that suited us, connected with other families, and began building something that felt steady.
Why I Built Yonder Cedar Brook
Most information online was either corporate relocation guidance or shallow tourism material. What was missing was an honest, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to bridge that gap — practical guidance based on real life in Canada.
